Belinda Bencic drops major praise, claim on Iga Swiatek ahead of Wimbledon match

Belinda Bencic dropped several major praises on Iga Swiatek ahead of their Wimbledon match, calling the Pole "the best in the world" and hailing her as "the best mover in women's tennis history." Bencic, ranked at No 14 in the world, is set to meet world No 1 Swiatek in the Wimbledon round-of-16.

When Bencic and Swiatek meet, it will be their fourth meeting. After beating Bencic 6-3 7-6 (3) at the United Cup earlier this year, Swiatek improved to 2-1 in matches against the Swiss. "I played her this year actually in United Cup in Brisbane.

I think that was a really high-quality match. I think it was the second match for the season. She's the best in the world and she's winning a lot of the matches. She is very consistent. I'm really up for the challenge. I'm excited to play her.

I think I'm a player that I play well against, you know, top players," Bencic said.

Bencic on Swiatek: No one has ever moved like her

When Bencic was asked what's impressing her the most about Swiatek, the Swiss dropped the ultimate praise on the Pole.

"I think it's her movement, absolutely. I think no one has ever moved like that in the woman's game like her," Bencic said. Meanwhile, Bencic and Swiatek are set to meet on the grass for the first time as each of their previous three meetings came on a hard surface.

Besides the already mentioned match from this year's United Cup, Bencic and Swiatek also met twice in 2021. That year, Swiatek defeated Bencic in Adelaide before the Swiss ended on the winning side in their US Open match. Going into the Wimbledon match, Swiatek is the favorite but Bencic could definitely be a tricky opponent for the Pole on the grass. It remains to be seen if Bencic can upset Swiatek.
