Rising Swiss star Dominic Stricker shares thoughts on practicing with Roger Federer

Rising Swiss star Dominic Stricker described a practice session with Roger Federer as "something special" as he was grateful to have a chance to hit with one of the greatest players in tennis history. As Federer and Stan Wawrinka are nearing retirement, the Swiss are hoping 19-year-old Stricker becomes the next big thing from Switzerland.

"The practice with Roger, I think that was something special. I enjoyed every single hour I had with him on court. I am really happy that I had this time to take the chance to play with him," Stricker said in a video uploaded by the ATP Challenger Tour, per Sportskeeda.

Stricker is a talented player

Stricker has won three Challenges titles and he is currently enjoying a career-high ranking of No. 126 in the world. Last week, Stricker won the Zug Challenger title after beating former top-10 Ernests Gulbis in the final.

Stricker is getting closer to breaking into the top-100 and becomine a regular participant of main level events is Stricker's next goal. "I am Dominic Stricker from Berne, Switzerland. I started playing tennis when I was about 5 years old.

My junior career was pretty special. I played pretty good in Israel. Everything started there and then I could play the slams for the first year and then my last Slam I played the French Open. I won the singles and doubles so it was pretty special," Stricker said.

Stricker has played two ATP events this year - Halle and Gstaad. On the grass courts of Halle, Stricker made the last-16 as a qualifier before losing to Stefanos Tsitsipas. Two weeks ago in Gstaad, Stricker beat Marc-Andrea Huesler in the first round, before losing to Albert Ramos-Vinolas in the last-16.

Stricker has been playing extremely well on the Challenger Tour this year and now his next goal is to break into the top-100 and make direct entries into ATP events.
