Borna Gojo recalls Rafael Nadal clash at Davis Cup Finals

Promising Croatian Borna Gojo absolutely enjoyed playing against world No. 1 Rafael Nadal at the Davis Cup Finals despite falling short against the 19-time Grand Slam champion. Gojo, who made his Davis Cup debut in Madrid, played only his second match in the competition when he entered the court at Caja Magica to compete against the home favorite Nadal.

Yet, world No. 279 Gojo performed above expectations against Nadal and didn't embarrass himself as he won a total of seven games in a 6-4 6-3 loss. "The feeling was fantastic. The stands were full, the atmosphere was great and it was a pleasure and privilege to play against a champion like Nadal.

The pressure was there but I felt it more before the match, later it all disappeared," Gojo exclusively told Dalmacija Danas. Gojo, 21, saved three break points in the opening game of the match and one more in the seventh game, before Nadal claimed the lone break of the first set in the ninth game.

Nadal then made a great start to the second set as he broke the Croatian in the opening game of the set, before earning his third break of the match in the ninth game to seal the win.
