I know now from this week and this loss what I need to work on to bring home that title next time,” Nakashima said, per the ATP website. “Hopefully in these next couple of tournaments in the U.S. before the US Open I’ll be able to get some good results and hopefully be able to pick up my first ATP title as well.
“I definitely learned a lot from this week – both positively and negatively – what I need to work on, specifically my fitness needs to improve, playing all these tough matches this week”.
Nakashima stood no chance against Norrie
Norrie, who was playing his fourth ATP final of the season, easily saw off Nakashima to lift his maiden ATP title.
"I feel very happy. I couldn’t be more proud of myself, proud of my team and how I handled the week. I am happy how I improved every match. I used my experience a little bit today and I think it showed in the match," Norrie said, as quoted on the ATP website.
"I think it’s a huge bonus. It was always a goal of mine to get my first title. Obviously I’d lost three finals this year, so it was very nice to get over the line today. I’m going to enjoy it tonight and then [go] straight back to work."
