Brandon Nakashima: "I would ask Roger Federer this"

During an interview with Tennis Channel, Brandon Nakashima was asked who he'd like to be trapped in an elevator with. He answered Roger Federer. Despite being away from the circuit for some time, Federer continues to be a source of inspiration for his younger colleagues.

The last two seasons have been very complicated for the Swiss phenomenon, struggling with a serious injury to his right knee. The former world number 1 played just 13 official matches in 2021, racking up nine wins and four losses.

After reaching the quarterfinals at Wimbledon, the King had to miss the Tokyo Olympics due to a knee relapse. The 20-time Grand Slam champion had to operate for the third time in 18 months, but he never gave up on his desire to return to the field.

The 40-year-old from Basel is expected to return to the Laver Cup, scheduled at London's O2 Arena at the end of September. The Swiss will also take part in the ATP in Basel, the last two editions of which have been canceled due to the pandemic.

Nakashima: "I would ask Roger Federer this"

Nakashima said: "Who would I like to be trapped in an elevator with? Well, I'd choose Roger Federer. It would be great to be able to spend time with a legend like him. I would ask him what goes through his mind in the decisive moments of a match and how he managed to remain competitive for so long." In a recent interview with Tennis Deutschland, Christopher Clarey,a well-known correspondent for the New York Times, analyzed Federer's perspectives: "Roger is a very optimistic person and has a positive energy similar to that of small children.

Right now, his goals are essentially two: to have his knee fixed so as not to have problems in everyday life and to treat himself to one last ride of the carousel before retiring. I don't think he's doing all this just to play a few show games at the Laver Cup. Federer loves the competition and wants to get involved one last time."
