Wimbledon: Novak Djokovic defeats Pedro Cachin, the Highlights
by LORENZO CIOTTI
Novak Djokovic started with a win in the first match on Centre Court of this Wimbledon edition, beating Argentine tennis player Pedro Cachin with the final score of 6-3, 6-3, 7-6. The number two in the world starts with some difficulty, who unexpectedly loses his serve in the third service-game.
Not always precise, still looking for his game on this surface in 2023, Djokovic decides to rely on net play, which gives him the counter-break. The Argentine does not leave him much room to spread, on the contrary, he also struggles in the service rounds of the Grand Slam champion, who does not get what is expected from his service.
It is Djokovic's law, however: at the end of the set, he accelerates, puts another gear on and thus breaks the first set. An hour's stop due to rain, with the roof closed and then reopened, does not brake Novak Djokovic. On the contrary.
The 23 times Grand Slam champion does not want to risk another break due to rain and accelerates. No more fouls, a few less descents to the net, rediscovered the first serve and above all the return that always makes the difference, here at Wimbledon in particular.

Thus comes the second set, with two perfect breaks. Although the result doesn't say it, Cachin's level rises more and more especially on serve. This is why the third set is more balanced than the previous two: this is why the break does not arrive, not even at 5-4 for the Serbian, below 0-30.
The Argentine does everything to deserve the tie-break. It is from the Roland Garros that the law is always the same: here Novak Djokovic makes no mistakes. Even in Wimbledon, with a few more difficulties, he realizes after two canceled match points, and secures the second round of the Grand Slam tournament: here he will face the Australian Jordan Thompson, who defeated Brandon Nakashima in comeback.
Nole is looking for a double record in London: to match Roger Federer's 8 Wimbledon title and to match Margaret Cout's 24 Slam record. Below you can watch the highlights of the match between Djokovic and Cachin, in a video shared by Wimbledon on its YouTube Page:
