Casper Ruud and Yannick Hanfmann land Munich wildcards

Promising Casper Ruud and Germany's Yannick Hanfmann have been granted a wildcard entry into next week's ATP Munich. Ruud, 19, debuted in Munich last year and is now due to make his second straight appearance on the clay of Munich.

The Norwegian failed to win his opener in Munich a year ago as he was defeated by German Philipp Kohlschreiber. Ruud hasn't played at an ATP tournament since February and the Rio de Janeiro event. Back then, the 19-year-old was forced to retire his first round match to Argentine Diego Schwartzman after just a couple of games played.

World No. 205 Ruud is featuring this week's Francavilla Challenger -- where he has reached the semi-finals. On the other side, 26-year-old Hanfmann is also set to make a back-to-back appearance in Munich. 121st-ranked Hanfmann failed to make it past the Munich qualifying in 2010 but had a great debut at the tournament last year when he reached the quarter-finals as a qualifier.

Hanfmann also hasn't played at an ATP event since February. Back in February, the German was defeated in his opener on the clay of Quito. Also read: Kei Nishikori refuses wildcard invitation from Estoril Open
