German tennis player Daniel Altmaier has been named as a recipient of the Sky Sports Scholarship for the next three years.
The 19-year-old has become the first player outside of the United Kingdom and Ireland to receive the scholarship.
The world No. 237 is hoping to not waste the given opportunity as he sees it as a big help.
"Being a Scholar is such a great opportunity. I’m really looking forward to these next three and a half years. It’s a huge experience and it’s going to really help my development in tennis," Altmaier said.
The scholarship includes financial aid, a sporting and business executive mentor, media training, as well as personal development and work experience.
Altmaier made his ATP main draw debut this past May.
Back then, the German won two qualifying matches before he fell short to USA's Sam Querrey in the Banque Eric Sturdza Geneva Open round one.
Altmaier also reached the Antalya Open quarter-finals before he suffered a first-round loss in front of his home fans at the German Tennis Championships in Hamburg.
Altmaier also revealed that his "big dream" is to win Wimbledon.
