German tennis player Daniel Altmaier left fellow compatriot Boris Becker impressed this past October.
Altmaier was sidelined for two and a half months as he was recovering from a shoulder injury.
The 19-year-old made a comeback in October in front of his home fans at a Challenger event in Ismaning.
Italy's Luka Sonego ruined Altmaier's comeback as he beat the German in round one by a 7-6 (5) 6-4 score.
Former world No. 1 Becker closely followed the match.
Altmaier is coached by Markus Hornig.
"The nice thing was that Boris Becker was watching the match and he told my coach he was impressed by my performance, even though I didn't win. He also told my coach that he is looking forward to supporting my career and that if I need any help I could always get back to him," Altmaier said, per Sky Sports.
World No. 250 Altmaier started the year ranked at No. 404.
The German reached his career-high ranking of No. 209 this past July.
Altmaier's best result at the ATP level came at the Antalya Open.
The German reached the quarter-finals as a qualifier before he lost to eventual champion Yuichi Sugita.
